The Virgin of Bethlehem is the patron saint of Pala del Rio, patronage approved by Pope Pius VII in 1806 at the request of the people and council of Palma, who had venerated her as patron saint and protector for centuries. We know that in the Middle Ages there were two hermitages dedicated to this dedication.
