La Velá de la Fuensanta, celebrated from September 5 to 9, will feature more than 50 activities, 24 attractions this year,
The Fuensanta fair, known among Cordoba as La Velá, is a popular fair, framed in recent years to be an eminently evening of the Barrio de la Fuensanta. It is celebrated the first weekend of September making it coincide with day 8, a festive date in Córdoba in honor of the copatrona of the Virgin city of Fuensanta.
Together with the day of San Rafael they make up the two local festivals of the Cordoba municipality.

The years 1804 and 1835, the Fuensanta Fair was held in the Plaza de la Magdalena due to epidemics that occurred these years.
It is the custom of Velá, the establishment of several stalls for the sale of ceramic bells, which delight children. For these, there are also some fairground attractions that feature the usual "little horses", butt cars, flying, witch train, etc. For the elderly, booths are installed where you can taste the typical dishes of Cordoba cuisine, along with scenarios where various performances are performed. Of course and as a popular festival, fireworks will not be missing, which will illuminate the night with all its thunderous color.
The visitor of "la Velá" performs two rites: one religious, base and origin of the fair, consisting of visiting the Virgin within the Church and another pagan that is fulfilled by visiting the Cayman de la Fuensanta, exposed on the side walls of the Church, where it is also used to contemplate a rib of whale as well as numerous votives of the faithful of Cordoba.
Very typical of this party is the sardiná and salmorerá, in which you can taste these delicacies for free.
