It is very close to the Roman bridge and on the right bank of the Guadalquivir. It was built by Abd al-Rahman II to lift water from the river to the palace of the emirs through an ingenious aqueduct. The mill has a restored naura or waterwheel, which was originally sent disassembled by Queen Isabella by the noise produced by its proximity to the Alcazar, royal residence. This mill is part from the fourteenth century the city shield.
