Originally part of the city walls, it was known during the reconquest as the Algeciras Gate. In the 16th century Hernán Ruiz III remodelled, giving it the monumental appearance of a triumphal arch. Inside, it has a permanent Exhibitions Room showing its history as well as a vantage point affording magnifi cent views.
